Case Filed Against Actor Venu
Hyderabad CCS Police have filed a case against actor Tottempudi Venu and four others related to a contract dispute involving the Progressive Construction company. The dispute arose over a hydroelectric project in Uttarakhand, leading to legal action after the agreement with Ritwik Projects was annulled. Venu, known for films like Swayamvaram and Ramarao On Duty, has been accused along with other company officials.

Hyderabad CCS Police registered a case against popular actor Tottempudi Venu and four others yesterday. Venu is associated with the 'Progressive Construction' company, which is run by the family members of former MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao. The company had previously secured a contract related to a hydroelectric project in Uttarakhand through Tehri Development Corporation (THDC). This contract was subcontracted to Ritwik Projects and Swathi Constructions in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. However, Swathi Constructions withdrew midway, and Ritwik started the work in 2002.
A dispute later arose between Progressive Construction and THDC, which was taken to the Delhi High Court. During this process, Venu and the management of Progressive Construction reportedly annulled the agreement made with Ritwik. As a result, Ritwik's Managing Director Ravi Krishna filed a complaint with the police, accusing the company of breaching their contract. Based on the directions of the Nampally Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, the police have now filed a case against Venu, along with Progressive Construction officials Bhaskar Rao, Hemalatha, Srivani, and MD Paturi Praveen.
Venu, who made his debut in Telugu cinema with the movie Swayamvaram, went on to star in hits like Kalyana Ramudu and Pellam Oorukithe. After taking a break from films, he made a comeback with the movie Ramarao On Duty. For more updates on business and legal matters, visit Vaartha's Business section.
